CARR AGRICULTURAL
GROUP INSTITUTE – Nurturing the future of Agriculture
The Foresight
In recent years the Carr Group of companies has gone from strength
to strength, building on their hard earned growth and success.
Although the Carr Group continues to focus on its founder's original
vision, to become one of the leading suppliers to the agricultural
community, a further objective has also become a focal point of
the Carr Group, to nurture and therefore fortify the future of
the agriculture industry in New Zealand. The Carr Group appreciates
that the future of the industry lies with the people involved
and so for that very reason have developed the Carr Agricultural
Group Institute.
What it is all about?
It is the aim of the Carr Agricultural Group Institute to nurture
the future of agriculture by way of developing those already in
the industry as well as bringing the young and enthusiastic into
it. It is envisaged that the institute will help people to grow
and develop within the agricultural industry, through providing
invaluable practical experience and guidance, specialist on-the-job
training, certified apprenticeship schemes and access to courses
that will enhance their professional development, all while they
are still working and earning an income. There are excellent opportunities
for young people in this industry, such as learning a skilled trade
which virtually guarantees future job security and a better than
average income, or becoming a salesperson which also carries with
it the possibility of high earning potential.
Apprenticeships
In conjunction with MITO the Carr Agricultural Group Institute
offers an Automotive Parts and Accessories apprenticeship as well
as an Automotive Heavy Engineering for Agricultural Equipment apprenticeship.
Both of these apprenticeships require a combination of theory and
practical study and should only take three to four years to complete.
Whilst attaining these recognised qualifications a yearly administration
fee is to be paid to MITO. The advantage of doing either apprenticeship
at the Carr Agricultural Group Institute is that you will receive
outstanding support and guidance with all aspects of the qualification.
The Institute encourages their apprentices to complete the theory
side of their apprenticeship within the first two years so that
they can then fully devote their time to gaining the necessary practical
experience. The Institute provides an excellent learning environment
to make this possible, including an on-site training room as well
as providing professional tutors that are subcontracted in regularly
to assist the employees with their study. Subsequent to the employee
successfully completing their apprenticeship, he or she will be
rewarded for every year of continuous service with the company.
Provided all of the conditions are met, the company will reimburse
the employee with a proportional amount of his/her total apprenticeship
fees for every year worked up to a maximum of $3000.
Another added benefit of doing an apprenticeship through the Carr
Agricultural Group Institute is that a pay-to-own finance scheme
is offered for the purchase of tools and other work-related necessities.
The Institute will purchase all the necessary tools for the apprentice,
with the employee paying for them by having 10% of their wages direct
credited back to the Institute every pay period until the full cost
of the tools has been recovered. For the right people there is also
the possibility of employees gaining additional skills and product
knowledge through training opportunities overseas.
Certificates and other Opportunities
Employees of the Carr Group are also encouraged to complete the
more general courses that the institute offers such as height
training, confined space training, first aid courses, forklift licences
and heavy traffic licences.
For people who are interested in agricultural products but want
maximum people contact, working towards being a sales representative
with the Carr Agricultural Group Institute may be an excellent
option. The Institute encourages future sales representatives
to first have practical experience with the products they will
be selling. Once they become thoroughly familiar with the products,
they will then spend some time observing and working with the
existing sales team in order to become familiar with the progression
of events during successful agricultural product sales. Depending
on the needs of the individual, there are also opportunities
to attend effective sales and marketing training courses that
are run by prominent organisations in the area. Again the Institute
offers all interested employees its full support and guidance
with all aspects of the courses mentioned above, with the possibility
of some financial aid also considered on a case-by-case basis.
